Lie #3 – Wave-Particle Duality
Indoctrination into the concept of wave-particle duality is started in the earliest physics classes. Students are taught the dogma that a particle is not just a particle as it also behaves as a wave, and sometimes it is easier to treat it as a particle and sometimes it works out better to treat it as a wave. Once again the vacuum fluctuation deniers have led us astray coming up with a fictional belief to cover up their erroneous theoretical bias.
Imagine if you would a strange planet much like our own, but the inhabitants could not see the water in the oceans. They could see fish, boats and various sorts of floatsam strangely suspended, but not the water. And then, a bright minded young physicists notices patterns in the sand and recognizes that these patterns have certain properties as they undulate and show interference patterns. Oh and by the way, the leadership on this world has decreed that there is no such thing as water as it is invisible and a famous scientist once conducted an experiment to disprove its existence. So where do these undulating ripples come from asked the young physicist. I know, the fish and the boats and the floatsam are not just bodies of matter, but they have waves attached to them as an integral part of their make-up, so sometimes you have to treat a boat or fish as a wave in order to explain the ripples in the sand.
The physicists of planet Earth are sort of like that. They looked at particles and the waves and wave phenomena that are produced due to the motion of the particles, and they wondered where the wave properties came from. Being good vacuum fluctuation deniers as they have been taught, they are stuck. With no medium to transmit the waves they had to come up with the crazy idea that the waves were part of the particle, or further an alternative description of the particle.
Standard model physicists denied the existence of a medium like the strange planet dwellers of my story who denied the existence of water. Of course the truth is far simpler. Vacuum fluctuations do exist and as a particle moves through the vacuum it produces waves in the vacuum fluctuations. A particle is just a particle.
