NLP Membership Drive for Elections
This is an important juncture for the NPA. The first annual meeting of our members for the election of directors is set for August 2, 2014, at Albuquerque, NM. This meeting is required by Maryland law and will be in conjunction with the NPA conference (NPA 21) at Albuquerque, NM, to be held from July 31-August 2, 2014.
The importance of this annual meeting is that the NPA members themselves will exercise their right to elect the directors of the Natural Philosophy Alliance, Inc. The current Board of Directors has not been elected by the members. Rather, without the consent of the members, the Board itself has elected the directors and excluded the members from the process.
Annual meetings of the members to elect the directors are required by Maryland law. The Natural Philosophy Alliance, Inc. was incorporated in January, 2012, almost 2-1/2 years ago. The current directorate has neglected to set any annual meeting of the members to elect the directors. Because of this, we, as members of the NPA, have taken the step of setting an annual meeting of members for August 2, 2014.
In order to exercise your right to elect our directors, you should be a paid-up member. It is imperative that you ensure that the period of your paid-up membership extends to and includes August 2, 2014, the date of the election.
PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING:
- Check whether your membership is paid up to August 2, 2014. In order to do this, check the following website: http://membership.worldsci.org and click on the heading MEMBERSHIP.
- If the paid-up period of your membership has expired, or will expire before August 2, 2014, please submit your current dues ($50 for regular membership, $35 for senior membership, or $25 for student membership). To do this, follow the instructions at the website: http://membership.worldsci.org.
Please support the future of the NPA. As the current directorate has failed to call any annual meeting of the members to elect the directors, it is up to the members to take the initiative. The NPA is essentially its members. Let’s keep it that way.
Note: For those wishing to submit abstracts and papers for the NPA conference set for July 31-Aug. 2, 2014, please do so via http://proceedings.worldsci.org.
Further note: The membership has its website currently hosted at http://npa.worldsci.org.
On behalf of the members who wish to assert their right to elect the NPA directors.
