This paper concerns a new field of study ? Energy Mechanics. It is discerned that all systems are open and there is an ingress and egress of energy from particles and photons into the cosmic governing field in all interactions. And all phenomena are determined by algorithms which regulate the ingress and egress of energy. Doppler shifts, aberration, and Fresnel's formula for motion of light are all explained as photon cosmic field interactions determined by algorithms.

Maxwell's theory of propagation of electromagnetic waves is based on the Biot-Savart's law together with its converse law acting simultaneously. That is, it is supposedly based on the formation of a magnetic field by the passage of an electric current and the formation of an electric field by a changing magnetic field. Therefore in order that this model holds, and for the waves to perpetuate (without dissipating in a short interval as water waves do), the magnetic field would need to fluctuate on a continuous basis, while the electric current created by the changing magnetic field moves outwards in a spherical wave. One of the chief difficulties of Maxwell's model is to account for how and why the magnetic field fluctuates.

This paper formulates a coherent theory concerning how relativistic phenomena occur in their interconnection in a feedback loop, which no other theory has been able to achieve. This is achieved by tracing back concepts that Newton held but suppressed, when he developed his mechanics in his Principia. Although Newtonian mechanics was developed on the premise that everything happens within a closed system, Newton in the General Scholium at the end of Book III, pointed out that the answer lies in an open system, where ?a certain most subtle spirit? participates and directs all interactions from motion of bodies, to motion of light, to how the human brain operates. That is to say that all interactions occur in open systems. We have identified this ?most subtle spirit? as the ?universal governing field? (or governing field for short) which is non-empirical, and that no empirical interaction in this universe can occur without exchange of energy between the empirical interactants and the governing field. By analyzing the energy momentum equation, we have demonstrated that everything empirical has a non-empirical substratum, which is identified as Spinoza?s primitive substance, and it is this that binds everything in the universe to the governing field and through it to one another. By recognizing the Pythagorean character of the energy-momentum equation, we have developed the ?Algorithm of Motion?, which is applicable to all velocities 0

Hitherto all physical theories have considered bodies as mass-points without internal structure. These theories therefore have been impotent and incapable of considering how internal energy (mc²) / internal momentum (mc) of a body interacts with applied momentum. Or how the internal momentum functions in the gravitational process in relation to other bodies. Since these theories have not been able to capture and visualise the changes of internal momentum and the consequent phenomena that arise in these interactions, these have appeared bizarre to them and they have therefore been labeled as "relativistic phenomena".

The present paper has discerned for the first time, how the internal momentum of a body interacts with external constraints. This enables the explanation of all "relativistic phenomena" as arising due to changes of internal momentum of a body (or a particle). As a sampling of how the theory works, the author has thought it opportune to demonstrate how it can be applied to a problem that cuts across both gravitation and inertial motion (invading the exclusive territories of GRT and SRT) at one and the same time. This is done by showing how the changes of internal momentum, cause clock rates changes in GPS clocks and obtaining results of extreme accuracy. Along with it, the delay in the decay of a fast moving muon is also explained by the same principle that the so-called "relativistic phenomena" occur as a result of changes of internal momentum.

At a certain level of development of human knowledge in any given field of study, new facts and phenomena that are discerned at a later period, come in conflict with some of the existing concepts and conventions on which older theories are based. These concepts and conventions which have previously facilitated and fostered the development of knowledge turn into fetters to its further development. This crisis may even necessitate a change of the entire conceptual framework radically, and along with it, the ruling paradigms to be more or less rapidly transformed. This is due to the fact that concepts as a rule are formulated imprecisely by way of errors or omissions unforeseen or consciously done by the use of Occam's razor by their authors. Because of this imprecision, concepts formulated to explain phenomena in earlier theories become inadequate and a hindrance to explain new phenomena discovered later on. In order to break through this impasse, earlier concepts and conventions should be analysed to find out the errors or omissions inherent in them and correct or amend them, or if they are wrong altogether, new concepts must be formulated to replace the existing ones.

Einstein wrote: "The chief attraction of the theory lies in its logical completeness. ?If a single one of the conclusions is proven wrong, it must be given up; to modify it without destroying the whole structure appears to be impossible." Nevertheless, there have been Sagnac's experiment in particular and various other experiments that have proved the conclusions of SRT to be wrong. There have also been numerous logical flaws in the theory that have been uncovered over the years. Yet, contrary to Einstein's commandment ?thou shalt not cling to the theory if even one iota of it is contradicted', the adherents of the theory have not given it up. Just like Einstein himself completely ignored Sagnac's experiment, his followers too completely ignore whatever valid criticism levelled against the theory. Not only that, they at times even go to the extent of defending it in a hostile manner, as if their religious beliefs have been offended.

At the time Michelson's experiment was first performed or even when SRT was formulated, the existence bosons and fermions had not yet been identified. Therefore SRT carries an inherent basic error of mixing up the ?relativistic phenomena' of fermions with those of bosons. (We define as ?relativistic' those phenomena that cannot be explained with the prevailing classical concepts). SRT has not recognized that the constancy of velocity of light arises from the nature of motion of bosons, and Lorentz transformation arises from that of fermions. Therefore it will become evident that the underlying reason for the doctrine of spatio-temporal relatedness in nature in SRT is the basic error of mixing up Lorentz transformation and constancy of the velocity of light under the same umbrella. Einstein has made his tangled web in such a manner, that even the dissenters can get trapped in it hopelessly unless a conscious approach is taken in regard to avoiding this basic error. The methodology proposed is to classify phenomena into three groups as arising from changes of states of energy a) of bosons, b) of fermions, and c) of boson-fermion interactions, and then to look for the common root causes for each of the groups. Presently, while the mainstream is satisfied with Einstein's approach of considering a hodge-podge assortment of ?relativistic phenomena' piece meal, and attributing them separately to dynamic and kinematic reasons in an ad hoc manner, the dissenters also have failed to classify phenomena into different groups and to look for the common root causes for each of the discrete groups.

Upon the post-mortem of Frankeinstein's monster (SRT), (only a pun) it has been found that, in its creation:

1. A serious error has been committed in cross-connecting two antithetical components (laws of motion of bosons and laws of motion of fermions) by accident. (Whereas there can be no connection between Lorentz transformation pertaining to motion of fermions and the constancy of the velocity of light - bosons, the central thesis of SRT is based on this connection).
2. The whole idea of creation of this 'monster' has come about due to the elimination of important parts from the body of physics by the previous use of a lancet named Occam's razor and the classical theory has been written as if these parts did not exist. And it is these missing parts that prevent us from making the necessary diagnosis. That is, Newton in the construction of classical mechanics has made four assumptions for convenience, to simplify his system and it is these assumptions that have made it impossible for us to understand relativistic phenomena in terms of classical mechanics.

Did Einstein go wrong when he accepted Minkowski's mathematical description of space and time as a unique entity? He did, says Viraj Fernando in his recently completed "Unified Theory of Relativity". The paper, says Viraj, explains the phenomena occurring in vector fields as well as gravitational fields under the 'Universal Formal Principle' that energy has inertia, and when energy is in motion, the inertia of energy causes a resistance in the form of a drag against the background field, leading to the manifestation of various 'relativistic phenomena'. In contrast with Franco Selleri, who proposes the use of "equivalent transformations" instead of the Lorentz transforms, Fernando says the Lorentz transformations are valid.
